Scott Moore
Orange Lawn Tennis Club
Director of Tennis
I would like to take a moment of your time to
introduce myself to our new members, offer a brief
history of my tennis background and discuss our 2008
Tennis Program. First, I am proud to be the Director of
Orange Lawn for my sixth tennis season; we have a great
club with so many good people and programs to offer. Our
tennis committee and tennis staff has worked hard to put
together a tennis program that will fit the needs of
every member at Orange Lawn. In addition, I have worked
very hard to put together another great tennis staff to
run our tennis program. Todd Bartolomeo will return for
his second season and Thomas “Perk” Thurman will join
the OLTC staff for his first season. Each pro has his
own unique personality and teaching style making our
staff extremely diverse. I take my time to hire the best
professionals available and continue to stress
continuity year after year. Please welcome Todd
Bartolomeo back for his second season and Perk Thurman
for his first season. We all look forward to a great
season.
For our new members, I would like to offer a brief
background of myself. I was born and raised in Alabama
and my entire family is and has been involved in tennis
for as long as I can remember. My parents, both USPTA
Professionals and retired college tennis coaches created
a strong tennis platform for me at an early age. My
father, Bal Moore, is rated a “USPTA Master Pro”, the
highest rating in the United States Professional Tennis
Association. In addition, he retired in 1995 with over
700 collegiate victories. My mother, Marcha, coached her
collegiate team to four top 5 National Rankings and
served as world team coach for the Paralympics in
Barcelona, Spain. They retired in Naples, Florida where
you might imagine, they play tennis. My brother, Guy
Moore, is the Director of Tennis at Plainfield Country
Club in Edison, New Jersey, less than 20 minutes from
Orange Lawn Tennis Club. He lives less than four minutes
from me in Montclair and we remain very close. As you
might now imagine, tennis was a priority in my life from
the beginning and still is.
Finally, here is a brief summary of my career. My
first head job was Head Tennis Coach at Wallace State
College in Birmingham, Alabama. Wallace State is a
junior college with a 7,500 enrollment and nationally
competitive athletic teams. I implemented Wallace
State’s tennis program in 1994 building a team of highly
ranked players from throughout the world. I had teams
(men and women) that consisted of players from countries
such as Sweden, Holland, Ecuador, England, South Africa
and the United States. In 1995, in only our second year
of tennis, Wallace State won both the Men’s and Women’s
National Junior College Championships. In 1996, our
Men’s team won their second national title while the
Women’s team finished 5th nationally.
From Wallace State, I became the Director of Tennis
at Racquette Lake Camps in upstate New York for a summer
season before moving to New Jersey to become the
Assistant Tennis Director at Plainfield Country Club in
New Jersey. There, I spent three years teaching paddle,
tennis and squash. In addition, I was the Junior Tennis
Director for 110 juniors. After three years, I accepted
the position as Tennis Director at Bay Head Yacht Club
in Bay Head, New Jersey where I spent two seasons.
Although Bay Head was only a summer position, the tennis
program was quite extensive with 900 family memberships,
over 300 juniors and required a tennis staff of ten. In
2003, I accepted the position as Director of Tennis here
at Orange Lawn. As I mentioned before, this is my sixth
season and I am once again excited to see everyone on
the tennis courts.
Presented here are the various tennis programs for
the 2008 Tennis Season. If you have any special tennis
needs, please contact me at
oltcpro@aol.com or 973-762-8689. We’ll see you on
the courts.

Todd Bartolomeo
Head Professional
Todd, born and raised in Rhode Island, currently
resides in West Orange, NJ. Todd teaches tennis at
Center Court Indoor Club during the winter and Orange
Lawn during the spring/summer seasons. He is returning
for his second season at Orange Lawn.
As a teaching professional, Todd has a very
impressive resume including working at many "prestigious
clubs and resorts" throughout the United States. I hired
Todd in April 2007 where he was on the teaching staff at
the “World Renowned” Colony Beach and Tennis Resort in
Long Boat Key, Florida. In addition, Todd has worked at
Saddlebrook Resort, at the Manhattan Plaza Resort, the
Evert Tennis Academy and Green Hollow Tennis Club to
name a few. His teaching experience includes 17 years of
experience working with many different levels of club
players, top ranked juniors and a few satellite players.
He is energetic, outgoing and motivated to help all
levels achieve their goals on the tennis court. In fact,
Todd believes that his work with beginners and club
level players to be far more indicative of what he has
to offer as an instructor. By integrating old school
tennis techniques along with new school techniques in a
way that is easy to comprehend, fun to assimilate and
rewarding both physically and mentally, Todd's teaching
style is a perfect combination in helping all players
reach the next level. He enjoys working with all levels
in helping them reach their goals, regardless of age or
ability level.
As a junior, Todd was ranked #1 in the state or Rhode
Island and later played #1 singles for the University of
Rhode Island. Todd's latest ranking is # 38 nationally
in the USTA Men's Open in 2005.
Please welcome Todd Bartolomeo back to Orange Lawn
once again for his second season. He will serve as our
Head Teaching Professional and Director of Junior
Tennis. I know he is excited to be here and we are lucky
to have him on staff.
