Florian Mihai

Director of Racquets
Meet Florian

With immense pride, Florian steps into the role of Director of Racquets at Orange Lawn Tennis Club, bringing a lifelong passion for Racquet sports and a vision to elevate the club’s storied racquets program.

Boasting over 20 years of coaching experience, Florian is an RSPA Certified Elite Professional, USTA NET Generation Coach, and PPR Certified Professional. His distinguished career includes roles as Director of Tennis at Twin Oaks Tennis Club and Director of Racquets at Maplewood Country Club, US Zonals Team Coach, and Eastern Competition Training Center Coach. Florian was also recently honored as the RSPA/Eastern, New Jersey District Volunteer of the Year, Florian’s commitment to growing the game is unmatched.

A former elite athlete, Florian was a former #1 ranked US Junior, four-time Rolex International Junior Singles Champion, and US Junior National Team member. His New Jersey roots shine through his contributions to four undefeated NJ State High School Team Championships with Newark Academy and his Division 1 tennis career at Rutgers University, where he earned a Bachelor’s in Finance from Rutgers Business School.As a US Army Combat Veteran, Florian embodies leadership, resilience, and teamwork — values he instills in players, staff, and members. His goal is to create a dynamic program that blends excellence, joy, and personal growth, ensuring Orange Lawn remains a beacon of racquets excellence.

Tyler Schick

High Performance Tennis Director
Meet Tyler

Tyler is a PTR-certified tennis coach with over five years of experience developing players from beginners to elite adults. As a lead instructor at Centercourt and top private academies, he’s designed high-impact training programs and currently coaches several nationally ranked juniors.

A former NCAA Division I standout at Tulane University, Tyler was a four-year varsity letter winner, senior-year Co-Captain, and ranks 5th all-time in singles wins (91) and 10th in doubles (51). He helped Tulane reach a national team ranking of No. 17 and achieved career-high NCAA/ITA rankings of No. 58 (singles) and No. 16 (doubles). His honors include Tulane Athlete of the Year nominee, Most Improved Player (2018), Most Valuable Player (2019), and 2019 All-LSWA First Team. He also competed in ITF Futures events and is a three-time NJ State Men’s Clay Court Champion.

As a junior, Tyler was ranked No. 1 in USTA Eastern and No. 24 nationally. At Millburn High School, he led the team to four straight state titles (2012–2015) with a 111–12 singles record, earning three Essex County titles, two state finalist finishes, two All-State selections, and two National High School All-American honors.

He holds a Management and Marketing degree from Tulane (2019) and brings deep strategic insight and passion to help players reach their full potential.

Thomas Caputo

High Performance Coach
Meet Thomas

Thomas Caputo has an impressive tennis resume, marked by remarkable achievements at every level. Formerly ranked #1 in the USTA Eastern section and among the top 25 nationally, he showcased his talent early on. As a freshman, he led Newark Academy to a state championship and made history as the only New Jersey player to win state titles at both public and private schools. In 2011, Caputo achieved a flawless 36-0 season at Livingston High School, finishing his high school career with an outstanding 120-10 record, joining an elite group of just 11 players in New Jersey history to surpass 100 singles wins. Continuing his career, he played Big Ten tennis at Michigan State for one year before competing at Binghamton University for three years, further cementing his legacy as a standout athlete.

After graduating college, Thomas honed his expertise as a coach with the High Performance Academy at West Orange Tennis Club and served as the Assistant Tennis Professional at Maplewood Country Club. He brings to Orange Lawn Tennis Club a deep well of knowledge and seasoned experience.

George Stoupe

High Performance Coach
Meet George

George played Division I college tennis at Arizona State and LSU, helping both programs reach top-20 national rankings. He achieved ITA rankings of #95 in singles and #73 in doubles, with notable wins over top-tier programs like UCLA and Stanford. On the professional circuit, George has competed in ATP and ITF events around the world, reaching multiple finals and securing victories over players ranked inside the ATP Top 300. His high-level experience and infectious energy make him a fantastic addition to the OLTC team.

Jay Bucknor

Adult Development Coach
Meet Jay

Jay knows no boundaries. He has had success at every level of tennis; as a player, mentor and coach. He has been actively involved in tennis for over 25 years. A USPTA certified instructor for 19 years. He competed as a Junior in Jamaica and placed 1st in the Jr. Caribbean Open as well as winning the Jamaican Jr. National Tennis tournament.

Jay has coached national ranked players and  developed junior and women’s teams. Jay’s area of expertise includes running true developmental 10 and under programs, junior team tennis, summer programs,  women’s team tennis and adult tennis clinics.

Jay  helps his students find enjoyment with the game as he improves their court presence. He utilizes his understanding of the kinematic chain as it relates to proper movement, spacing, and balance. He will help you get into your tennis rhythm. Jay thrives on getting you looking better on the tennis court. He looks forward to helping all those excited to improve their game.

Silvia Fernandez

Racquets Coach
Meet Silvia

Silvia Fernandez is a dedicated tennis player from Barcelona, Spain. She began playing tennis at the age of seven and started competing in tournaments early on. Her passion for the sport earned her a scholarship to play college tennis in the United States, where she competed for Barton College in North Carolina. Silvia played both singles and doubles at the No. 2 position and was named All-Conference in both 2023 and 2024.

She graduated with a double degree in Accounting and Business Administration, along with a minor in Honors Research. Silvia loves playing all racquet sports (tennis, pickleball, and paddle) and enjoys teaching and helping people improve their game.

Alec Palumbo

Junior Development Coach
Meet Alec

Alec Palumbo is a passionate tennis player who began playing the sport at just 8 years old. He served as the Team Captain for the Governor Livingston Tennis Team, leading with both skill and enthusiasm. Since 2015, Alec has been sharing his love for tennis by teaching others, helping players of all levels improve their game. Known for his great and happy attitude, Alec brings positivity to every match and lesson. Alec has been at OLTC for 2 years in September.

Courtney Provan

Traveling Racquets Coach
Meet Courtney

With a passion for the game and over 10 years of experience in coaching tennis, Courtney is a seasoned professional dedicated to developing athletes of all levels. From a junior ranking as high as 20 nationally and 2 in the East to becoming a respected coaching figure at multiple clubs in New Jersey, Courtney brings a wealth of expertise and a deep understanding of tennis.

As a high school freshman and sophomore, Courtney won sectionals and placed in the state tournaments respectively in both Washington State and New York State. Signed to a D1 college tennis program, life’s twists and turns led to a transition from competing to a focus on coaching. From early days hitting for aspiring college athletes to coaching young children, Courtney quickly grew into a full-time coach of all levels, including juniors, adults, and competitive athletes.

Most recently serving as the Assistant Director of Racquets, Courtney has continually proven the ability to foster growth in athletes, whether they’re starting out or aiming for high-level competition. Known for creating an environment of dedication and growth, Courtney believes in teaching not just the fundamentals of the game, but also the mindset needed to excel both on and off the court.

Whether you’re an aspiring player or looking to refine your game, Courtney brings invaluable experience, passion, and a personalized approach to help athletes achieve their goals.

Russell Benkaim

Paddle Director
Meet Russell

Russell is a certified PPTR Platform Professional and is currently ranked number 8 in the Men's APTA National rankings.  He recently made the quarterfinals in the Men's Nationals, won the New Jersey Men’s League Classic, and won the Married Mixed Nationals with his wife, Izzi.  Russell is also the Director of Racquets at Mountain Ridge Country Club, where he focuses on tennis and pickleball in the summer months.  He was previously the Director of Racquets at Kenwood Country Club in Bethesda, Maryland. Russell played college tennis at the University of Utah, where he helped his team reach the NCAA Tournament two times along with a top 25 ranking.

Led by Alvi Regalado, HPA training includes biomechanical awareness, technical and tactical patterns, personalized college guidance, recruitment and oversight, and more. 

Please note that players must also be evaluated by Alvi Regalado to participate in the program.

We offer a year-round, progressive junior development program utilizing the latest and most innovative teaching techniques for Red, Orange, Green, and Yellow Ball categories.

Clinics are available daily for ages 4 and up.

Our clubhouse is famous in its own right for a lively scene and social highlights throughout the year. 

The connecting thread for each member activity is a Club culture that enjoys celebrating life at every opportunity — often through matches, tournaments, clinics and recreational activities — which means our Calendar doesn’t take many days off.

We play host to a range of socially focused activities and events as well, and there’s always a match or mixer or meeting on the daily agenda. All you need to do is find a favorite and get involved!

The OLTC Pro Shop provides everything players need, including racquets, apparel, and stringing services. Our Pro Shop Manager can also coordinate special orders or requests, and ensures that members are always prepared for the big match!
